The Practice will be closed for staff training from 1.30pm on the following dates:

For patients concerned that they may have coronavirus, the NHS 111 online service has created coronavirus pages that tell patients what they should do based on their particular circumstances. These can be accessed at: https://111.nhs.uk/service/covid-19
ALL ROUTINE GP APPOINTMENTS HAVE BEEN SUSPENDED. ALL PATIENTS REQUESTING A FACE-TO-FACE APPOINTMENT WILL RECEIVE A TELEPHONE TRIAGE APPOINTMENT WITH A CLINICIAN TO DETERMINE IF THERE IS A NEED FOR FACE-TO-FACE APPOINTMENTS. WE THANK YOU FOR YOUR CO-OPERATION WITH THIS.
CHANGES TO DISPENSARY OPENING HOURS
Please note that during our flu clinics the dispensary will be closed between 1pm and 3pm.
In order to protect everyone in our community we have temporarily limited the opening hours of ur dispensary. The dispensary will now be open to patients at the following times:
Monday: 8am - 12.30pm and 3pm - 5.30pm
Tuesday: 8am - 12.30pm and 3pm - 5.30pm
Wednesday: 8am - 12.30pm
Thursday: 8am - 12.30pm and 3pm - 5.30pm
Friday: 8am - 12.30pm and 3pm - 5.30pm
The telephone line will remain open as usual from 9am - 1pm.
Please also be aware that prescription requests will now take up to 72 hours to be processed.
Ashbourne Medical Practice is working with a group of local practices to provide a GP extended access service.
Together with Hannage Brook Medical Centre, Brailsford & Hulland Medical Centre and The Surgery Clifton Road, Ashbourne Medical Practice are offering appointments from 6.30pm – 8pm Monday to Friday, and at weekends, to better support the needs of our patient population.

Advanced Nurse Practitioners
Advanced Nurse Practitioners are experienced registered Nurses with advanced level training and prescribing ability.
Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANP’S) can
- Take a comprehensive patient history
- Carry out physical examinations
- Refer patients for investigations – blood tests, x-rays etc.
- Make a diagnosis and provide treatment
- Support and treat all chronic conditions such as Asthma, COPD, Chronic Heart Disease and Diabetes
They can also assess, diagnose and provide treatment for most common clinical conditions and ailments such as
- Chest Infections
- Ear Infections
- Eye Infections
- Urinary Tract Infections
- Skin Conditions e.g. Eczema, Psoriasis etc.
- Wound Infections
- Wound Care
ANP’s work in close collaboration with the Doctors.
We have introduced ANP’s here at Ashbourne Medical Practice to
provide a proactive response to the changing of the healthcare environment.
This allows the practice to offer an improved quality service for
appointments with GP’s and available time for patients with more complex medical needs and end of life conditions.
Our Reception Team may ask the reason for your appointment.
This will help us to triage and signpost you towards the most appropriate healthcare professional and help you to be seen in a timely manner.
